Ok. I'm trying to decide on a mb/cpu/case combo deal.

Is there any difference between the CUV4X and the P3V4X other than the chip type? I know the CUV4X has built-in sound (which i hate) but I've been told you can disable it 100% very easily.

Also, I'm not sure I want to compromise the 6th PCI slot and the 4th DIMM slot that the P3V4X has and CUV4X does not.

Which would you guys choose?
Asus P3V4X p3 733eb slot 1
or
Asus CUV4X p3 733eb socket 370 w/ built in sound and 1 less pci slot and dimm slot

One last thing:
If I converted a FCPGA chip into a slot 1 using that slocket thingie, is there any performance difference?

Thanks :)

I heard that P3V4X performs better than CUV4X, the memory performance, as well as 3D performance are also better on P3V4X. Slocket will not make any difference in performance, if you can spend $25 more for the slocket, I think P3V4X is a better choice. 1 more PCI slot is always helpful.

There have been some "issues" of various sorts when using the slocket adapters with the P3V4X but usually it entails changing to a different adapter to clear up the problems.
CUV4X does support to Pentium 800 while P3V4X only goes to Pen 733.
Of course we are talking no overclocking!

Whatever you do dont go with a 733EB, use a 650E or 700E, and then you will be able to overclock it easily. My 650E is running 963 Mhz rock solid, on the AUSUS P3V4x. Not all will do that I had a 600E that would only go to 744 mhz, but save some money on your chip, and put it to better uses than lining INTEL's pockets.
