I am having some strange problems with this board under Win98SE. When i'm basically idling (i have word open, ie, and my antivirus), it will just suddenly jump to like 50 degrees C, causing MBM to signal the alarm. I clicked cancel cuz I knew something must be wrong and closed IE and suddenly the temps went back down to around 30C. I hope I didnt just fry my chip...When I game under Win98SE, it only goes to about 40 C. This is under MBM w/ a 20 degree C compensation (1001A default bios for CUSL2). I have an alpha pep66 and radioshack grease. It didn't seem to have this problem in WinMe or Win2k. What's up with win98se and its idling? Oh ya, is 20 degree C compensation about right for the 1001A bios temp problem? I hope my chip isnt running at like 50 or 60 degrees C! thx O ya, i'm overclocking 700e-933 default voltage.

Gee i hope asus will fix the dam temp problem! :( my system doesn't feel safe anymore when turned on and unattended :(

I'm not sure what to make of the temperture spike when idling. It almost makes me think that the fan stopped working for a bit, but I guess that would have set off another alarm (or same alarm?).

In any case, I'm using the Asus probe, and the correction factor that I have arrived at (by guessing) is about 24 deg C. My reasoning was that the MB temperture seemed to be fairly accurate compared to my room temperature, so I figured the CPU temp should be about 3 to 5 degrees C higher at idle.
