I've been reading up on the cusl2 reviews and almost all of them says the audio is crap. Exactly how crappy is it? I am hoping to use the onboard audio to make things a bit cheaper when building a low cost computer.

I wouldn't recommend using a Cusl2 when building a low cost PC. I never did try the onboard sound, but soundcards are fairly inexpensive right now. You can get a OEM soundblaster live for less than $45. These motherboards seem to be very picky when it comes to working. There are MANY people that seem to have problems with the board but I am not one of them. Mine works excellent and i spent only $1398 total.

Good luck finding the audio version of the CUSL2. As far as I'm concerned it doesn't exist =).

The CUSL2 does not include the AC97 audio codec built in, even though it is in built into the 815E. I don't see why you would want such a crappy audio codec anyway. The place on the board where the codec would be is labeled as such, but does not have the chips and connectors inserted.

You won't have a problem any SB Live! as long as you get the newest drivers from www.creativehelp.com.

How good are your ears and how good are your speakers? If both are bad, then the audio won't really matter. Mine does not have on-board audio. Get an SBLive Value if you worried about it. It's not that expensive.
