What's all this I've been seeing in Usenet about the CUSL2 not taking 256MB PC133's? Any truth to this? If so, how is 512MB achieved?

SugarTooth,The Asus CUSL2 takes 64,128,256,512mb modules(upto 512mb limit)I`ve just checked the Asus CUSL2 manual,it has three slots so you can put in any combination so long as you don`t go over the 512mb limit.

Ulysses, you are right I guess they want us to buy a Rambus board if we want more then 512mb.

According to the reviews if you actually use all 3 dimm slots your memory bus reverts to 100mhz. That's something to think about. Yeah the 512 MB max thing is just there to make rambus boards look more appealing for customers who want/need that much memory. Pretty sucky eh? :(

Yeah, that's very sucky of Intel. To think, it's probably just one little flat wire on one little chip that causes the 512MB limit. If someone can just figure out which one...

But at least it will actually take 256MB sticks. Maybe people have been having problems with certain slots or something.

Thanks

You guys don`t read well, the Anandtech review of ASUS CUSL2 says

"While the 82815 officially only supports 2 PC133 DIMM's, the CUSL2 had no problem running 3 DIMM's in PC133 mode"

so that clears that up.(I hope)
