looks interesting at anandtech. wondering if anyone else knows this mobo.

It uses a proprietary "PCI slot".

While the components are good, it's extraordinarily expensive. The fact that the combined Controllers are only available from ASUS are a bit of an issue for me. If you ever need to upgrade them, you can forget it.

essentially the controllers are on a daughter card due to the PCB size. Lose the card, lose the controllers.
