I just bought a Boxed 800EB FCPGA 133 and 256MB Crucial CL2 133 ram with a ASUS CUSL2 MB (1001.A bios reV)

I am having a a problem that it keeps restarting over and over and kicking into bios setup. It says last time your computer hanged due to incorrect frequency. it asks me to select the processor freq I select 800, and it auto sets 133:133:33 and 6x as the multiplier. It is doign this over and over, when you reach Updating eSCD it will restart by it self. I am not trying to overclock just plain setup for stability...

The voltages are set to 1.65V as marked on the processor.
not sure what the problem is, also I noticed the voltages are not on the money and whether they have to be otr not I am not sure

I have a 235W PS.
the MB voltage readings are
3.3 = 3.44V
+5 = 4.94
+12 = 12.35-11.612
-12 = -11.57
-5 = -5.05
and VCORE at 1.68

and the numbers fluctuate.

try to set your processor to a lower fsb like 100 or so and see if that works, if it does, go to cusl2.com and download the BIOS update and see if that works for you.

Also, you should be aware that the CUSL2s have a dip switch block near the IDE connectors that override the software settings for FSB/PCI/SDRAM speeds. To use the software settings you must have all the dip switches turned off (away from the processor). Hope this helps.

"Does it just up and restart or does it give an error message first? "

Just restarts continuosly, and then kicks into bios and there it give me the error saying that theere was an issue with the freq. th edips switches are set to off as that is the default for the MB.

Would putting too much load on the HD do that? I had one HD disconnected and all the PCI cards (except NIC) removed and it has been up since morning 12 hrrs or so...
I have 4 ide devices

thanks everyone for your input

I flashed the bios yesterday and then connected the 10gig Pio mode4 maxtor drive and instalantly when I started it gave me that error. I checked the HD with MAX diag and everything passed. , it has been running fine though WIN98SE is very slow to start.
I just reinstalled it and INF updated the install and it found new devices and which made things slow down
I have
SBLive value
BT848 Video input card (for web cam)
Modem
Realtech NIC.

Something is spooked in it, not sure what. the win98 slow down and at shutdown hanging (when u shutdown the win98 logo stays there all the time, even with a brand new reinstall...

Your shutdown problem is a known problem in Windoz98. Run the Windows Update to download the fix/patch from Microsoft.
