Asus CUSL2-C or CUV4X-4 for celeron 633

I am in need of a new motherboard for my celeron 633, formerly an abit bx6r2. Anyone have opinions on whether to go the 815e or Via route? Both of these motherboards are probably overkill for my chip but I don't want to get a low-quality board. Anyone have suggestions on these boards or any reasonably low cost others that might also be a good for a celeron 633?

CUSL2-C does not support Celerons. The regular CUSL2 does. You maybe better off with a VIA but you may run into VIA driver problem.. have fun..

Really? It says on the asus site that the CUSL2-C supports fc-pga celerons, but I've read more than a couple posts here about the problems people have been having with the non-BX boards. Would it be safest to go with a BE6-II or am I worrying too much?

Anyone have any opnions on the Epox BX7+ boards? I'm trying to decide between an 815EP, Via, or BX solution that will last me as long as possible with a celeron 633. Please, any and all thoughts or opinions are appreciated!!!

I am pondering the same thing, except I'm using a Cu-Mine 600E. I have heard about the Via chipsets having stability problems especially with the drivers. As for the question presented earlier, the FC-PGA Celeron works with the CUSL2-C. It's the older PPGA Celerons that don't work. From what I've read, the CUSL2 board is very stable, so I assume that the CUSL2-C has at least the same stability plus there is no on-board stuff to mess with. Looking at the price difference, I think I'm going to go with the CUSL2-C myself. Might as well spend the extra 15 bucks and get something newer. Besides I will never use more than 512MB of ram anyhow. Just my two cents.

deejaycee: So, what happened to the BX6r2? I've got one running at 733 MHz and love it. I also have 2 CUSL2 boards one with PIII-700e @ 945 and the other with a Cel2-700 @ 904 (stinks!)

I see no reason why a CUSL2-C would not run a CU128 (Celly2). I suspect TheFro is correct and it is the original Celeron that is not supported.

i have a cusl2-c with a celeron 633 fc-pga and it works great. i have it overclocked to 950 (voltage @ 1.80). i have heard via is not great. i think the i815 chipset is the only way to go for intel cpus

The CUSL2-C does not support PPGA Celerons (300-533).

It DOES support FC-PGA Celerons (533A-800+).

The BX6r2 is a mystery. It will power on all of my peripherals, but I get no POST. This happens no matter what cpu I put in, or whether I have a cpu in or not, whether I have ram in or not. Basically it acts the same no matter what I have plugged in or if I have nothing plugged in. I have cleared CMOS more times than I can count, remounted the motherboard countless times, and anything else I can think of or that people have suggested here. That includes pressing insert key on startup, attempting startup with no kb/mouse, taking the battery out and clearing CMOS. It's really quite annoying. Yesterday I took it out and threw it in my closet in hopes that some day I'll attempt again and it will work. I'll probably get my hands on a CUSL2-C pretty soon, but buying hardware is tough in between jobs
