Asus CUSL2 Beta Bios ???

The current BIOS for this board is 1009 but there is a Beta version 1012 available, does anyone know what this fixes / Adds ? as there isn`t any info on the site 🙁 ..

Also have Award got a function for re-flashing a BIOS thesedays if things go wrong like AMI does with the AMIBOOT.ROM trick? -

Thanks..

I would never run a beta BIOS... are you actually having problems running 1009 BIOS? I have a CUSL2-C and am running 1009, and it's perfect. I never had a problem with any BIOS before that, mind you, but I still updated it to 1009.

I would just stay away from beta BIOS software....

Thanks folks -

As for problems, Nope, i don`t have any but BIOSes mature and get optimized particularily in the RAM dep`t and we all want some of that don`t we ;-) .. And Hey, you never know but they might have even tweaked the onboard video to be as dizzyingly fast as a PCI Banshee !!! - I`d save a PCI slot then 🙂 .. Seriously, I DO understand the risk with Beta BIOSes, that`s why I`m asking around about this one ...

1009 was a beta once.. 🙂 I had best luck finding beta on thier Germany site when I had that board.

ASUS Beta BIOSes are relatively stable, and I regularly use them myself. For end of life products such as the P2B family of boards, ASUS will release beta BIOSes only. In order to get some of the latest features, you NEED to go with these beta BIOSes for older boards.

In the case of the CUSL2, between 1009 and 1012 Beta 008, 48-bit LBA hard drive addressing has been added (support for drives greater 128GB), the CPU microcode has been updated twice, various iPanel fixes, hidden support for APIC (although it is not enabled on the CUSL2) and various other tweaks.

Thanks Andy & Mastertech .. I`ll flash it up then 🙂 .. The TUSL2 apparently gained Voltage control in a Beta release ! .. Ah well at least they`re still developing BIOSes for these boards, shame that they don`t give out information as to what they fix..
