ASUS CUR-DLS and RAM ???

here are the facts:
we'll build a computer with this board soon and we'll start with 1GB of RAM.
we definately will upgrade the RAM later on.
the required ECC/REGISTERED-RAM is really cheap these days, even the bigger modules of 512MB or 1GB.

here are the questions:
how can we gain maximum performance from the RAM at the beginning ?
would it be better to start with several smaller modules or would the performance be the same if we used only one module for the time being ?

i don't know if that information matters, but there'll be two SCSI-160-harddisks, one on each SCSI-channel.

thanks for all your input in advance and please don't get angry when you don't get immediate replies, i'll have to be on my way in a few minutes and won't be able to look at the answers til tomorrow.

The performance would be no different if you had 1GB on a single DIMM or if you split the 1GB across several DIMMs, ie 2 x 512GB.

Given that you have a limited number of slots and you are looking to upgrade in the future, the best path would be to buy as few DIMMs as possible at the beginning.
