ASUS Crosshair Power Up Issues

Hi guys,
Here are my system specs:

Amd Athlon 64 X2 4800+
ASUS Crosshair ATX AM2 Nforce 590 SLI DDR2 2PCI-E16 PCI-E4 3PCI SATA2
OCZ GameXStream 600W PSU
OCZ Gold XTC PC2-6400 2X1GB DDR2-800
ATI Radeon X1900XTX

They're the only really important components at this point.

I powered up the system and went into bios. I went to change the date displayed on my bios but as soon as I pressed the "return" key, the sytem shut down. On this particular motherboard there are LED lights that light up so you can see the components in your computer when the LED button is pushed on the rear panel. Also there are three onboard switches (Power, Reset, Clear CMOS) which also light up. Now the LED's on the motherboard blink on and off when the LED switch is on and the onboard switches blink on and off when the LED switch is off. I cannot power on the system and I cannot find any documentation on why the LED's blink on and off.

I've made sure that the motherboard is not grounded to the case, and I've checked and rechecked all connections between the PSU and motherboard. I've tried powering on with only the CPU and one stick of ram in the computer and still nothing. The fans don't attempt to spins so I'm ruling out a problem with the PSU as of now.

Someone suggested I take the battery out of the CMOS for 5mins to try and clear it because he believes it could be a BIOS problem and that could fix it. I'll try that as soon as I get home (at work now), but any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
