Asus chipset fan=lawnmower

I need to do something about this. It's not a good loud like a "whoosh" or "whirr," but a nasty low-pitched vibration. I assume it's out of balance or the bearings are shot. It's been running for hours a day since October, and it's been doing this for a while.

Can you fix one of these, or should/can it be replaced? To complicate the matter, my 7800GT sticks out over the corner of the fan about 5mm, and hovers about the same distance over the top of it.

Mobo: Asus A8NE FM/S (Discount Micro-ATX Nforce4)

If there's nothing I can do, I'll probably buy a new mobo right now, one which has bios overclock for a change.

I gots the Asus K8N4-E Deluxe. I took off the northbridge chipsest heatsink by squeezing the pins on the other side, cleaned the white stuff with rubbing alcohol and Q-Tips, got a Zalman NB47J and fitted it with a 40mm (taken from a Coolermaster heatsink) on the end with I can`t remember, I think it was 6-32x2 bolts, used the old heatsink as a guide to adjust the pins on the Zalman properly.

Well, I didn`t have much time to type but you get the idea. Have fun.

Thanks. I actually tried something right after posting, and it worked.

I have an old intel pc sitting around, so I took the passive heatsink from its chipset, removed all the pads/glue, and stuck it sideways (with paste) where my fan is supposed to go. I used the vanes from the stock sink to hold the other one on. I did have to file it down to clear part of the vid. card.

My chipset temp is about 4 deg Celsius LESS than before. And it's QUIET. Rad. Oh yeah, I did turn up my lower-front 80mm from low to medium as a safeguard.
