ASUS CDRW firmware upgrade help needed

My Cendyne (rebadged ASUS) CDRW has an existing firmware version 1.20. The latest firmware version from ASUS is 1.40. However, the official ASUS firmware update utility cannot "see" the CDRW drive as being an ASUS drive, due to Cendyne's having slightly altered the drive name from "ASUS CRW5224A' to " CRW5224A".. Can any programmer tell me how to hex-edit the official ASUS updater, so that it will recognize the drive? So that (after flashing to the latest 1.40 firmware) the name "ASUS" is restored?
The (combined firmware/flasher) .exe file can be downloaded from here: ftp://ftp.asus.com.tw/pub/ASUS/cdrw/5224A/CRW5224A_140.zip
Note: Have already contacted Cendyne for help. They advise that "No firmware update is available".
TIA!

Thanks, but that's for a different manufacturer's drive "5224AU". It doesn't work for updating the firmware of my "CRW5224A".
