I love their CD-ROM drives - they're quiet and fast. But I havent heard too much about their CDRW drives. They're reasonably prices and if the writing quality is good, i'm gonna try it out. Writing quality is the most important factor for me.

Thanks.

Some of the drives are a little problematic, especially when it comes to CDRWs. Their latest model, the 4816, is not too bad, but ASUS still has not managed to fix the biggest problem with their optical drives since the 45X CDROM: horrendously long media recognition/initialisation times.

The ASUS drives aren't too bad.....the review at CDR Info (or was it CDR Labs....I can't remember), shows that it tops the charts for most things, apart from the media initialisation, and one or two other things. It still retains hallmark "If the ASUS drive can't read it, nothing will".

Up to you though.

Andy,
Does this problem also apply to the new Asus CD-S520/A CD-ROM 52X Drive ............. ?
I have been looking for a review of this drive model ...... with little success.

Thanks,
