Asus bonus overclocking actually works! M2N-E

So I built an Asus M2N-E (nForce 570 ultra) system with 4GB of patriot ram... the ram was supposed to run at 800mhz DDR2 5-5-5-18@1.8v or 5-5-5-12@2.0v

http://www.asus.com/products.a...model=1181&modelmenu=1

Well... the mobo can only output a max of 1.95v... But it didn't even mention anything to me (I can't tell its current voltage but I think it is 1.8v)
It just set the ram to be at 5-5-5-12@1.8v at 861mhz instead of 800mhz... it is rock solid, having been on with no errors for weeks now and passing a 24 hour memtest+ 1.7 cycle.

I thought it was a joke when I noticed the ASUS website was mentioning "extra" overclocking done for you "free" on their boards, claiming that you can further overclock the same amount above it as you could before...

This thing didn't even ask me anything and there is no way to turn it off... it just runs much faster then it should for some reason. And this is a mid range board only!

I have another computer build with the same motherboard and a 2x1GB corsair + 2x1GB something else modules and neither of them (alone or together) actually gives me that kind of performance boost...

So whats going on? how come it just wants to go faster (but perfectly stable) with absolutely no input from me?

thanks... any idea if it is really the asus overclocking bonus thing or something else entirely?

I expected them to make a big deal out of this, but they didnt.

i am not sure if it is the asus overclcoking bonus but it sure is nice to have. i ve never heard of something like that happen out of nowhere.

AI NOS?
Applications such as 3D games and video editing demand a huge chunk of system resource. Inject "nitrous oxide" into your CPU! The patented AI NOS? (Non-delay Overclocking System) technology intelligently detects system load and automatically boosts performance for the most demanding tasks. Unlike other dynamic overclocking techniques, AI NOS? reacts much faster to satisfy your unending need for speeds.

that might be what it is. thats a cool feature, especially for those who dont want to overclock themselves. its done automatically for them and under warranty too.

but if I am just sitting in the BIOS screen it is at that level... it does that in and out of windows... it just set the base speed to 861 instead of 800 and the latencies lower then they should go... perfectly stable, and no notice of anything special...

I plus they are saying it affects your CPU, and the CPU is experiencing 0 overlock... only the RAM is...
