Asus anti-surge is a good thing.

Friend had a case that came with an included Rosewill PSU. Started getting a black screen during bootup. BIOS said anti-surge had been triggered during previous boot.

Replaced Rosewill 500W with a Corsair CX430, computer powered up and booted right into Windows just fine.

Edit: PS., Power supplies that come with cases are cheap and crappy, and wear out somewhat quickly.

Is it the same thing as what the Gigabyte boards have been coming with, too?

Interesting to see someone actually have it do something.

As long as people neglect their PSU choice--and they will because the PSU is arguably the most difficult PC part to evaluate while being "bland" as well--having protection on the motherboard itself certainly provides actual insurance against surges.
