I just installed the following in my gaming pc to catch up a bit on my BF2 performance
Asus Extreme AX800XL pcie
Asus A8N-E motherboard
A64 3200+
However I am a bit stuck in and confused about the process of installing the multitude of drivers and utilities that come bundled with the above, and now I am in need of some advice as to what to install.
GOAL:
For now I am not interested in overclocking, at least not at the expense of added noise or heat.
However, I would like to use the ability of the gear (AMD Cool'n'Quiet and the ASUS gpu and m/b equivalents) to adjust fan speed (and overclocking) according to temperature and load.
Finally, I'd like to install as few as possible drivers and utilities to keep my system free from feature clutter that I dont need, and to avoid as many as possible of the really ugly utilities (why oh why are they so ugly and not-streamlined?).
Asus Extreme AX800XL pcie
First of all, do I need the Asus Enhanced driver or can I just install the latest catalyst pack? The Asus Enhanced driver seems to require another driver as well, and seems to enable some features of the gpu, which catalyst won't or? Is the Asus driver really a modified catalyst? Will I be missing out on the new better performing catalysts when choosing the Asus driver? Will I miss features if I choose catalyst?
ASUS SmartDoctor (ugly) seems to be the utility for adjusting the fanspeed of the gpu according to load etc. I hear theres an ATI utility that does the same? Again which should I choose?
As my post probably shows, im quite confused here
Im hoping someone can help me.
Thanks
