Asus A8V Suspend Question

Yesterday I installed my new Asus A8V Deluxe MB, and made sure that suspend, etc. was enabled in the BIOS. Then, after installing Windows XP, I noticed I was unable to use Suspend and/or Hibernate mode on my desktop. I installed SP2, hoping that things would get better, but outcome was unchanged.

I'm about at my wits end as to why I'm unable to Suspend the system. My old Asus board running Windows 2000 worked, so I know that my power supply is compliant and works properly.

Any suggestions on a fix would be most appreciated!

Thanks!

Is it that when you go to Shutdown, the button for Standby is greyed out and is unselectable, or is it that it freezes etc when trying? If its greyed out, make sure the video drivers are installed, that stops it. If that doesnt work, go into Device Manager, Select View and select 'Show Hidden Devices'. Then under the system devices, make sure the ACPI things are all enabled

Well, you may very well have hit the nail on the head. When I built the machine, I ordered a GeForce 6800, which arrived DOA. I threw in an older AGP Matrox card, but didn't install the drivers for it, since I didn't want to muck up the install. Thusly, I'm running in VGA mode right now, waiting on the replacement which arrives tomorrow (which unfortunately is the same day I go out of town on business for a week). I'm thinking that this may very well be the cause, but I'll post when I return and install the card and appropriate drivers.

Thanks much for the suggestion, and I hope it's that easy to fix!

Yeh, everytime after a clean install, if windows does not have the drivers for my Video Card, I have to install them and until they are installed, the system will not stanbdy/hibernate etc.
Good Luck

Well, you were correct. After RMA'ing my DOA GeForce 6800 GT and getting one that works, I installed the appropriate drivers, and Poof! Suspend/Hibernate works. Thanks for the suggestion. I'm sure I'd have figured it out once I installed the specific drivers.
