Ok - this is not a question. I just build myself a spankin new computer.
Fine - except that I had to spend five straight hours trying to make the
damn SATA drive work. So.... I thought it would be nice of me to tell
everyone who cares exactly how I did it so you don't have to suffer
the way I did. Ok - here it goes.

My Spec:

MB: ASUS A8V Deluxe 939
HD: Seagate 200GB 7200 SATA (yep - just one drive)
OS: WinXP Pro Sp1 (you NEED Sp1!!!)

The Procedure:

1. Connect the hd to the mb-sata-raid-
connector labeled "sata raid 1"

2. In BIOS. Choose Promise RAID - Enabled
in submenu choose - IDE mode (not RAID!)

3. In BIOS. set BOOT order to
A. floppy
B. cd
C. hd

3. Use Seagate DiscWizard for DOS to
initialize hd. (get it at seagate.com
and install on floppy then boot with
it)

4. Intall winXp and when prompted press
"F6" then "S" and use the supplied
SATA378 drivers from the ASUS A8V
cd or from "ASUS.com".
you'll need a floppy.
NOTE:NOT the SATA378 RAID drivers!!!

5. Take control of the entire hd (hd:s bigger than 133GB)
using PartitionMagic8 for WinXP.

TADA!!!! SATA may be great in a couple of years but untill
then.... try the above...
