Asus A8V, SATA HDD, and Win XP

I apologize if this has already been covered. I've never used SATA before either, as a side note.

I'm using an Asus A8V Deluxe and a single Seagate SATA HDD. This is a freshly built computer. I'm trying to install Windows XP. I do not want to use RAID. During Windows XP setup I receive an error that says no HDD could be found. I tried using 378ATA drivers that were on the mobo CD after having them copied to a floppy by pressing F6 during Win XP setup then selecting the WinXP controller drivers, still no HDD found. I tried using 378RAID drivers using F6, still no luck.

I have tried to disable the Promise controller in the BIOS and install but that didn't work either. I read that I had to set the drive to RAID 0. From the VIA VT8237 SATA RAID BIOS Ver 2.01 menu screen I see Serial_Ch0 Master ST3200822AS and a bunch of options that are not available, such as Create Array, Delete Array, Create/Delete Space, Select Boot Array, and Serial Number View.

Could someone point me in the right direction please? Thanks in advance.

put "a8v sata" (w/o the quotation marks) in the search on the left side of this page. you should come up with 3 different articles, all pretty useful. I'd read all 3 completely befor you start trying stuff though. There seems to be multiple fixes, some of which sound easier than others.
