Asus A8V S939: Differentiating between revision 1, and rev 2

Hello all,

I'm about to go out the purchase an A8V rev 2 board, atleast that's the plan.

1. How can I tell between the two versions? Someone told me there should be a sticker on the board itself ..

2. If I do pick up a rev 1 board, will a bios upgrade correct the problem?

3. The only problem with the rev 1 boards, was a non-locking agp slot, right?

email or call the vendor and ask if the board they are selling is rev. 1 or rev.2

They tag the revision number by the agp and pci slots, you can easilty tell. And it is a hardware problem I believe, but I have a revision 1.8 and I have a working lock. If you buy one now, you will get a revision 2.0.

I cancelled an order from one online vendor because they could not guarantee that I would get a Ver 2 board. This was about 10 days ago

If you getting it from a vendor that moves alot of material (like newegg) it's going to be rev2, b/c rev1's aren't being produced anymore. To be sure, look between the pci and agp slots and it's printed there.

Is the working lock the only difference between the rev 1.8's and the 2's? If so, is it possible to correct the lock with a BIOS update?

Revision 1 had Wi-Fi, Revision 2 doesn't.
Revision 1 had a green box, Revision 2 has a white box as shown below.

I ordered mine from Newegg in September and got Revision 2. You can look between the 4th and 5th PCI slots and it's printed.

Unless you order from a vendor that moves very little product, the odds of you getting a Rev 1 board are very slim. You'll most likely end up getting Rev 2, and then you can flash the bios to make it current.
