I recently purchased an ARM Systems computers with the following configuration:

Asus A8V Deluxe MB with AMD FX-55 & Thermalright XP120 cooler
2 GB DDR400 CL3 RAM (4-512 MB DIMM's)
Two 160 GB SATA/150 Samsung Spinpoint 7200 RPM HD with 8 MB Cache
256 MB DDR3 OEM ATI Radeon X800XT video card
Sony Combo CDRW + DVD Reader
1.44 MB Floppy
XP Professional
On-Board Sound

1. Is it best to set up Raid 0 off the VIA controller or the Promise Controller?
2. Does RAID configuration instead of no RAID configuration (separate hard drives) result in speed loss due to a PCI Bus bottleneck?

Thanks in advance.

with the benchmarks there is nothing to prove you are right raid 0 wasnt made for the average joe.it was made for servers.and large data transfers. i was gonna get 2 74gb raptors on raid 0 until i saw the benchmarks its really not worth it just get 1 raptor drive.that is not even worth it either it isnt much slower than 7,200 when in games doesnt matter all it does it make u install stuff faster, and reduce loading times by barely nothing.look at the benchmarks plz dont spend an extra 170 dollars for another hd that isnt gonna make a real differents.but if u do video editing and large data transfers its good.
