I have an Asus A8V Rev2, Factoryu BIOS 1008 board with the following hardware installed:
Athlon 64 3000+
2- 512 Meg Sticks Mushkin Green Cas 2.5 blue slots, dual channel
Nvidia GeNForce 5200 128 Meg Video
Antec Sonata with Antec SmartPower 380 watt Case
PS sensor is plugged into "Power Supply" 3-pin
1-120 MM case fan (not plugged into the motherboard)
1- 80mm temp controlled Artic cooling fan (3pin, plugged into "Chassis Fan" 3-pin
1- Arctic Cooling TC CPU cooler, temp sensor disabled, plugged into CPU 3pin on motherboard. (I disabled the sensor according to instructions because it was only running at around 600 rpm and keeping the idle temps in the 40's)
Windows XP Pro SP2
With this setup I'm getting some very odd readings with Asus Probe 2.23.94 and in the BIOS hardware monitor. (both match) I've uninstalled and reinstalled the utility at least a dozen times, including different versions with the same results.
CPU and Power Supply readings are fine, at around 2400 and 1500, depending on load.
Although I occasionally get readings of zero with both.
Chassis fan reads somewhere between -25000 to 0 to + 25000!
The readout remains the same weather Cool and Quiet is enabled or not. It is currently enabled.
The odd thing is that checking the settings in the BIOS under "hardware monitor" is extremely slow, probably a 15 second lag to toggle between each setting. The rest of the BIOS setttings work perfectly.
So, what's up? Any theories?
I have not tried reflashing the bios. The machine runs beautifully and is extremely stable. It is currently overclocked to 2.25ghz and idles in the high 20's, topping out around 45 at extreme load.
