Firstly I would remove Asus probe. I always remember having problems with this piece of software.

Secondly check this site: http://www.viaarena.com/default.aspx?PageID=2

I did 2 things:
1) I got the latest VIA 4-in-1 drivers here.
2) I also followed advice on the forums of above site regarding using the Microsoft Unified AGP drivers of SP2 (assumming you are running XP?) instaed of the VIA drivers.

However I point out that I only have 2 sticks ( 2 x 512MB Corsair Value Line CAS 2.5) on my A8V.

Good luck.

Flirty.

The plot thickens! After reading your last post I opened my case and checked my setup. I have my 2 stickes in slot A1 and B1. This is what is mentioned in the manual, see section 2.4 System Memory, table 1 Recommended memory configurations.

Do you really have your 2 sticks in slots B1 and B2?

yup that seems to be the only way i can get this thing to post. I can only get it to post (yet agian) with 1 stick in slot b1 or 2 sticks in slots b1 and b2 but it will not work in dual channel mode with slots A1 and B1
this is the question that if it were answered would solve a lot of problems for a lot of people.
going to try and revert back to the older 1.0.0.7
people have said they have been able to activate dual channel support by doing this
original bios 1.0.0.8 right now i have 1.0.0.9.0.0.6

I can add that I have BIOS 1007 which came with mainboard. Since all is working for me I am going to wait before flashing any new revisions. If it ain't broken............

well reverting back to the 1.0.0.7 bios didnt really do anything. still having same problem. I think i'm just going to send the ram back and get a 1 gig stick instead of trying to get this god forsaken dual channel mode to work, but if anyone one has any solutions i'm listening.

Last point: I have the rev. 2.0 mainboard. Check your mainboard revision, it is printed on the mainboard somewhere.

Sorry I can't help you further.
