Asus A8V Deluxe won't run with memory in 3 slots.

I have a non-sli Asus A8V Deluxe Rev 2 that I have been running two 512 Meg sticks of Mushkin PC 3200 Ram in the blue slots. When I add an identical 512 meg stick in either remaining black slot I get a message at post saying "system failed due to CPU overclocking".

The system is overclocked at 2339 MHZ (260 X9) but it has been rock solid at that speed when running two sticks in dual channel. The ram is running at 213 mhz @ 2.5 3 3 8.
I'm running a 939 pin AMD 64 3000+ with 2 sticks of Mushkin Green Value Ram (rated Cas 2.5)
Zero errors in Memtest (with 2 sticks) voltage set at 2.6. Bios 1009

Any suggestions?

The Qualified Vendor List on page 2-13 of your owner's manual says that four of the 512MB ValueSelect CL2.5 modules is a qualified & approved setup. I'd imagine four of the CL3 variant will also work just fine, although it's not on the QVL in the manual.

Can I assume that since the memory controller is built into A64 chips that this configuration is the norm for all motherboards with 4 dimm slots, or is this just an Asus thing?

It looks like I exchange the 512 for 2-256's or else I spring for another 512. I guess that leads to one final question. Can I run two 512's side by side with 2-256 chips and will they all run in dual channel mode?

Thanks to everyone for their responses.
