ASUS A8V Deluxe Won't Boot

Hi,

I just recently put together the following system:
Asus A8V Deluxe (skt. 939)
AMD Athlon 64 3000+ (Winchester Core) (skt. 939)
Mushkin 512mb Ram (Single Channel in B1)
Radeon 9600XT (in agp)
Antec 310W Power Supply

Everything seems to be in the right place. For a while I thought the load was too much for the power supply, so I unplugged my two optical drives (1 DVD-ROM 1 CD-RW), but it made no difference. The motherboard receives power (green light), but it won't boot when I click the switch. I've triple-checked the power/reset switch & speaker & l.e.d., etc. settings on the motherboard and they're fine.

The ram is in the right place (blue B1). I read on the ASUS website that this mobo will run fine on the older bios with the A64 3000+ and single channel ram in B1. Besides, how can I update my bios without a CPU?

I know that the video card, power supply, hard drive, and two optical drives work because this was an upgrade of a mobo/processor/memory.

Absolutely nothing happens when I click the power button. Like I said, the green light is on in the mobo, but it doesn't boot. I tried taking a wire and connecting the two ends of the power sw pins on the mobo but nothing happens.

Any ideas?

Does your Power supply have the 4 pin connector? If so is it connected? I had that problem once did exactly the same thing you are describing with a different MB of course.

I just built one very similar to yours. Mine didn't boot at first either. It turns out that the case switch headers were not plugged correctly to the mobo power switch pins. ( I mean the headers connected to the case, this includes the HDD led pin, reset pin etc.)

Also make sure that all molex connectors are plugged in tightly, from PSU to mobo and ensure that the 24 to 20 pin adapter is secure.
