Asus A8V Deluxe....is mine DOA?

Just got my new Asus A8v Deluxe Motherboard in and installed but I get no POST or Video at all.

After I had first put everything together and hit the switch on the power supply, everything came on without me hitting the case power switch. Thinking I might have connected the switch header wrong, I doubled checked and its fine. (Red wire to the left and connected to the 2 yellow colored pins)

I removed the RAM to no avail.

I then cleared the cmos per the Asus manual. Now the system remains off until I hit the case power switch but still no POST or video.....and it won't turn off with the case power switch.

Any suggestions? Seems pretty bizzare to me but if its something easy I'm missing I'm all ears.

Check that the motherboard isn't grounding on the case.

Take the motherboard out of the case, and put in just the CPU and RAM and Video and see if it runs outside of the case (this eliminates the shorting problem), if no go, try removing CPU, RAM, and Vid card one by one and check if the motherboard gives back the proper beep codes and such.

Good suggestion. Followed your advice and removed the motherboard from the case, but still having the problem. Removed all but the CPU and still no POST or video.

Thanks for trying!

also make sure the cpu heatsink is on the right way (yes there is a right way). if you put it on incorrectly it will do exactly what your describing.

Asus is pretty good about warranty. I wouldn't mess with it too much. I know its a cheesy answer but Asus really does provide good service with RMA's.

Doh, the 4 prong connector was the issue all along!

Although this is like the 5th rig I've built, I feel like a noob now.

Problem currently is that XP doesn't seem to want to load, but thats a different topic.

Thanks for the help!
