OK, i'm building my first system here and think i need a second opinion on the front usb connector. My mobo has 2 possible USB connections, I'm guessing one is for the front USB and one for a back one. Both the manual and the newbie guide I'm reading say i should be sure which ones which before i connect them cause i could damage it. The ASUS manual describes them as (from left to right) USB78 and USB56 respectivly. I just want to hook my Front USB up and need to know which connector on the mobo is for my front usb. Sorry if I'm a little redundent, its late and I'm tired :/

Either of the two headers will handle either of the two options (front USB or rear PCI-slot USB outlets). They're interchangeable. :) What you do want to make sure of is that your case's front-USB cable is wired to match the Asus motherboard's pinout, which goes

Power, Data-, Data+, Ground, Ground
Power, Data-, Data+, Ground

on the two rows. What brand/model of case do you have? :)

As usual, Coolermaster's site is a big waste of time when it comes to actually looking up useful info :p Does the case come with any documentation that tells what the pinout on its front-USB cable is? Otherwise, can you take a close-range photo of it and put it on the Web for viewing... there's a semi-standardized color-coding scheme on USB wiring and hopefully they're using it.

yea the case does and it looks like the usb could go in either connector: USB+5v, LP-, LP+, GND, NC <--coller master doc.
USB+5v, LP-, LP+, GND, nopin

ASUS man. --> USB+5v, USB_P8-, USB_P8+, GND, NC USB+5v, USB_P6-, USB_P6+, GND, NC
USB78 USB+5v, USB_P7-, USB_P7+, GND, nopin USB56 USB+5v, USB_P5-, USB_P5+, GND, nopin

I'll have to borrow my girl's camera later if this doesn't help

It looks like your case and board are both wired the same. I'd go right ahead and plug 'er in :)
