asus a8v bios not retaining htt settings

hi all, first time poster, long time browser, first off thanks to everyone for all the advice and tips on the forums cause with out it i would never have sussed out ocing my system(still no joy with memory but i blame that on me mb) problem ive got now is no matter what i do whenever i have to restart my htt setting goes back to default.all my other overclock settings remain as i want them apart from my cpu speed, granted i dont restart very often but its getting at bit boring having to reset every thing each time,am on the 1014 beta bios which i think might be the problem and cant flash to an older bios as my dog ate my floppy drive.any ideas?cheers

I'm using 1012 myself w/o your particular problem. Exactly what HTT setting are you trying to use ? Are you getting an "overclock failed" message when you boot ? Couldn't you put an older bios on a cd and boot up w/ that to flash your bios? (I don't know if this is possible; just thinking out loud).

no boots up as normal but resets my fsb to 200 instead of 260,doesnt change anything else so think it must be the bios, will have to get a floppy to flash to older one i think,do you overclock?if you do have you had any joy with memory, mines not stable at anything over 200 no matter what dividers or timings, hope older bios will help.cheers for your reply

I'm using 1013 with a 4400+, and no settings, other than dropping the multiplier, seem to actually work on this damn board, even though the bios reports them as having saved my changes. For example, I set it to 10x multi, 260FSB, 3x HTT, and 3:2 memory divider, but CPUZ still reports 10x200=2.0 ghz. Ugh!

that was my problem.the 1014.7 beta bios works well for me.i was having to reset to defaults and then put my new setings in everytime i rebooted, the 1014.7 beta bios works well for me.bios finaly saves settings.nice and stable now but expected better from asus.

1014 was released out of beta today (well on the 25th reportedly). I'll try it tonite.

Just to clarify, I'm wondering:
1. Are the bios screens retaining the selected values? For me, yes.
2. Does it appear that those selected values, or whatever values show in th bios screens for you, are actually being applied (for example confirm in CPU-Z)? For me, no, except the CPU multiplier (I changed it from 11 to 10).

for me the bios saved all my memory settings and voltage settings just would not save htt settings or multiplier.tried dropping mine still now joy,so cpuz allways showed 2gig same as you,

Well crap using the from-windows asus bios flash utility failed, and now I can't even boot my f'n machine. Asus says I need to pay 'em $40 to overnight a new bios chip to me. Damn mobo's only worth $100 anyway.
