Has anyone tried setting up a RAID 5 array with this board? I looked at the manual and it shows in the screen capture that it supports RAID 5 (as the last option on the bottom). The option inside the ULi bios (M5288/v1.14) doesn't show it though. It only lets me create a RAID 0, 1 and JBOD.

I've already tried clearing all the RAID and normal BIOS settings and also tried flashing the latest BIOS for the motherboard (which came out today, version 0309). I have also called/emailed Asus regarding this issue and they said they would get back to me, since they weren't aware of the problem. Also, I am waiting for a response from ULi to see if they can provide a new BIOS update to enable it.

I'm trying to hookup 3 x Seagate 250GB SATA hard drives using a v1.026 motherboard from Asus. If anyone else has this board, can they enable the SATA BOOT ROM and check the ULI bios (pushing CTRL-A) to see if the option to create a RAID 5 is there? I bought this board for the RAID5 capabilities and the good review that was posted here.

Thanks.

The normal Silicon RAID 5 option is enabled through a java applet within windows. Look for drivers for RAID, and there should be RAID enable/disable in the BIOS, so make sure that is right. Tell us if you don't have the Sil5114? chipset, I think that's right. So look for a Windows thing for RAID 5. And welcome to the forums.

Unfortnuately, this motherboard uses the ULi M5288 chipset and it's a hardware based RAID. I talked to the guys at Asus and they said there was a bug in the drivers for it, so their reissuing a NEW BIOS for the ULi chip in 7 to 10 days. Hopefully it comes out in time. Thanks for responding.
