ASUS A8R-MVP available at the Egg...

Sadly I could not hold back... it was either this or the newish Abit KN8-SLI. I wanted passive mobo cooling under $150... the great OCability discovered in the review is almost gravy.

If you guys could post your experiences with this board after you get them up and running that would be awesome as I am really looking forward to this motherboard if it doesn't have to many issues.

This is a brand new board correct??

Does anyone have one yet?

Do new boards need a bit of time to work out the bugs or is this still a good choice for a new pc builder...stable, easy set-up.

Would this be my best motherboard choice if i go for an ATI X1800XT?

Heh, I made my decision based on Anand's wildly enthusiastic review, and Tom's Hardware's cooler if still quite positive one. Guess I will be the guinea pig, although I don't have a strong OCing urge so my results might disappoint some.

One thing I struggled to ascertain was the effect of using an Nvidia GPU(s) on an ATI dual graphics chipset. What I remember seeing in Tom's benchmarks but not so much Anand's (or maybe vice versa) was that while two X1800XTs matched two 7800GTXs, one X1800XT beat one 7800GTX. Might be the other way round.

Now i just have to wait for it to hit Canaduh...at some exorbitant $200+ Cdn. price most likely

Damn, i just wish it wasn't so butt ugly 🙁

I ordered one last night (actually this morning) at 1:30am. Here is what I ordered:
ASUS A8R-MVP
Fortron AXN-450 Power supply (Dual 18A 12v rails)
Thermaltake BigTyphoon HS/F

Will be used with my Opty 165, 2x 1GB G.Skill ZX, X800GTO2

Should be here Monday so I will post feedback at that time.

Now in stock at ZZF, same price with free 2nd day shipping! I dont feel so bad now jumping on the $139 price at NewEgg 🙂

Awesome- let us know how it goes mamisano- I have the same mem, HS/F, Opty, GTO, etc.- curious to hear your feedback!

Yes, whoever gets this first...drop the multi & tell us how high you can crank the HTT 😛

Only thing i really want to know TBH, since the stuff in reviews can always be cherry picked.

you also have to remember that the ability for a chip to run something like 320ish HTT 1:1 is dependent on the mem controller of the chip as well.

i think AT has a GREAT 4000+ with an awesome mem controller.

Damn! I was hoping this mobo would sell for 120-125ish. I guess I'll just have to wait a couple of months and see if the price drops if not, then the DFI NF4 Ultra-D it is....

I know.
That's one of the reasons i want feedback from users here, so i can get a better idea of what she can do 🙂

That's what kills it for me.. no excuse to have that 1985 puke yellow and green stuff when even budget boards like ECS/Foxconn and Asus's very own AsRock come with fanciful colors hiding all the traces.

is there any reason to not get it from actbuy? Their reseller ratings are good and they are 30 dollars less than newegg.

Only reason I went with NewEgg is because they had it in stock and I was impulsive 🙂

If I had waited I could have and would have saved ~$30, but hindsight is 20/20... that and I had no idea when anyone else would have had them in stock.

I have some vacation days on Mon / Tues so I wanted it by then 🙂
