Ok so...

I am building a computer with an eVga 7800GT, AMD Athlon X2 4400+, 2 gigs of OCZ ram, and some other junk. My case came with 8 spacers, and there are 9 holes that line up with my tower case for spacers.

I figured one less spacer, big whoop, and screwed the rest in. I think my board or spacers are a little messed up because I have tried tons of combinations, and it seems like 2 slots just don't line up. You can see 3/4 of the spacer. I am not going to go out an buy more spacers unless I have to, and I think the problem is my spacers are bent or something.

Can I secure my mobo to the case with just 6 spacers and screws? Also, when I screw a screw into the spacer, should I put one of the tiny paper washers in between them?

Thanks

Oh yah, sorry, but 1 more question. Some of the black cylinder shaped things on the mobo that look like batteries are slanted. I havn't mishandled the board, but do you think this will be a problem?

Forgive me if you have already done this. Putting in a motherboard is like putting a gasket on a car engine. The instructions always suggest using a torque wrench for a reason. The same thing goes with computers.

First, ensure none of the screws are tightened down. Instead, just seat the screws in the threads as you then have more play and should be able to get them all seated.

Tightening down screws/bolts in a star pattern also helps balance out the play in things. This can make getting all the screws threaded simpler.

If that fails, then loosen up all the spacers and tighten them evenly. I never put them in more than fingertight and that with a mild twisting to ensure they are firmly seated but not tight.

Also, look in your computer stuff if you have any. Some mother boards come with plastic offsets that can be put through a screw hole. This will help with keeping the board flat as you insert and remove devices.

hope this helps,

Sean
