So I just received this motherboard, took my computer apart and put it in, booted up fine started to reformat and do a fresh install of windows. That went perfectly fine, along with the SP2 installation.

Then the bad stuff starts happening. I seemingly made the mistake of saying yes to installing the IDE drivers. I reboot my computer it loads up after the Windows XP splash screen to just a black screen with my hard drive light going nuts. I let it sit, 5 minutes later still black screen and hard drive light stil going crazy. I shutdown the comp and begin to reformat with the plan of not installing the NVidia IDE drivers. C drive reformats fine windows copies all its stuff over and computer reboots at which point windows does chckdisk on both the drives. Aparently while I let my computer sit for those 5 minutes the NVidia drivers desided it was going to move stuff around on my D drive.

I am now watching as chckdisk is recovering 10,000s of orphaned files praying to god my data will survive intact.

Has anyone else had this sort of horrible experience with the NVidia IDE drivers or perhaps this motherboard?

I just installed this motherboard myself, along with the drivers.

No problems here.

With NV IDE drivers anything is possible and I wouldn't doubt a horror story, although I'm sure many more users use them without problem. Just do a re-install without the drivers. (takes less than 30 mins) If the problem persists, then you know it's something else.
