ASUS A8N-SLI with THERMALTAKE WATER COOLING

I just received my ASUS A8n-SLI PREMIUM.

1.) Do I need to remove the Black Plastic Ring from the MB to install the WATER COOLING KIT? It appears that I have to.

2.) My 2nd Question is should I apply my Artic Silver all over my AMD 3200+ VENICE processor and then apply the THERMALTAKE WATER BLOCK?

I was going to do the exact same setup...ended up not going water...yet

Supposedly the Bigwater is awesome. If you do 2 radiators and the one pump that comes with it...you can cool the CPU, 2 Nvidia cards in SLI, and a northbridge all at the same time. Now I haven't SEEN that myself...but it's supposed to work. I've seen a lot of reviews on the bigwater and everyone said awesome things about it

Around £80 for a Bigwater and an extra radiator here.

If this thing is as good as the vibe Im picking up here, I might pick one up to cool my AXP. The thing is multi-platform so its pretty awesome if it cools well.

EDIT: Seems to be quite a difficult item to find in the UK. A quick scan and I can only find 1 vendor with it.

It looks it from whats being said but your tempting me into spending money I dont have 😛

£60 for a reasonably powerful Entry-Level Watercooling set seems good if its reliable. Thermaltake, although hit and mainly miss with their products get my support at times. If it is reliable, it could prove to be Thermaltakes needle in a haystack.

I think a more professional level kit, ie. build your own, would be too big a step for me as Ive never encountered it face to face. A kit like this could prove to be a good investment and a good learning experience to prepare me for my watercooling project when I have money to burn on a hobby.

Cross-platform compatibility sounds great... and I do have a spare NF7-S rev 2.0 around with enough parts to jury rig up a basic system apart from a cheap Socket A processor and a PSU.

Perhaps a Big Water + a Fanless PSU to make a near silent, fanless rig 😛

5V my Zalman VF700-Cu on an old GF4 MX, disconnect my NF7-S rev 2.0 NB fan. Underclock the SoA proc and slap my SLK900A on it and run fanless.

Oh we can all dream.

Also, apologies for dragging this off topic.

1) Read some of the reviews. They should lead you through installation and help you tell whether you need to remove it or not.

2) AS5 is probably the best performing TIM going. Use it wisely 🙂 Follow their instructions carefully and dont be afraid to clean the processor and start again if you arent happy first time.
