Asus a8n-SLI VS. Gigabyte GA-K8NXP-SLI

Whats up all I'm in the market for a 939 nF4 SLI Mobo. I've been to all the review sites/Forums and still checking them daily and yes ive seen the MSI 939 SLI but it is out for me because I've seen the Asus and the Gigabyte both beat out the MSI in benchmarks. And the DFI Lanparty is not as know to me and there are no real stand outs that lead me to believe that it is one of the big contenders. What my real question is WHY HASN'T ANYBODY DONE A HEAD TO HEAD BETWEEN THESE TWO BOARDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Im down to these two and all I (and everybody else who is looking for 939 SLI) want is to see these two boards battle it out for the top slot. The features are almost identical down the line so features are not a big issue the issues are Benchmarks, problems, BIOS, Overclocking, ease of use, and any thing else that is worth comparing.

Yea i search the forums everyday and all i hear are some biased remarks like "man asus is so great i never had any problems with that one board that one time at that place so i would recommend you this board." I want to see real world results as far as benchmarks. If you guys see anything that you thought i might have missed as far as links to some test they ran please post them....Thanks Fellas

WOW Really because if you read my thread eariler i said I've seen all the the reviews but i want a HEAD TO HEAD test which has not been done on benchmarks between the asus and gigabyte brother. OK so don't post smart@ss replies until you understand what im talkin bout. What is your interest in this thread you lookin to buy, or you own.

Oh don't be retarded. Forums always look that way. The people with working A8N-SLIs are not posting problems here on the forums...because they're using their A8N-SLIs to do other things.

Forums are 100% of the population having problems...which is who knows what tiny percentage of the entire population who bought the board.

ASUS has been in full distribution for over a month thus the amount of posts regarding it.
GIGABYTE has just hit the market (and there are already problem posts regarding this board here at AT). Comparing the number of posts is not a good indicator for % of people with problems. And with ASUS getting the jump on the competition by a month, I doubt the sales of any other SLI will surpass it. So there will always be more ASUS SLI posts

#1) The Gigabyte is just now becoming available in limited quantities. ASUS has been shipping wide open for over a month.

#2) You may be right - but we won't know for a few more weeks.

What Insomniak said. Forums usually show people who are having problems, rather than the people not having them. I'm running the Asus board and haven't had not a single glitch with the board, and that's with all four memory slots populated and running 2xpci-e cards.

Most of the problems you see about new technology are those found between the keyboard and the chair.

Here's the PC Perspective article with the head-to-head performance comparison between the Asus and Gigabyte. Bottom line: it's close, but Gygabyte leads, although A8N-SLI seems to do better at higher resolutions and detail levels.

Giagbyte leading certainly doesn't surprise me. Their boards are generally among the best performers. A couple of points:

1) Most of the time, Gigabyte's performance advantage isn't significant. 111FPS vs 109FPS? Technically, yes, the Gigabyte is ahead...but I certainly wouldn't buy it just for those two frames. Their conclusion states that the Gigabyte has a consistent 2 - 3% lead... meh.

2) I prefer the ASUS layout. The Gigabyte board is very crowded, especially around the CPU socket.

3) Gigabyte boards hate on Corsair XMS RAM.

I'd put em about even. The real test, I think, will be availability and price. All told, I doubt you can go wrong with either board.

Yeah, the "consistent" 2% difference in Doom3 shrinks to like 0.3% difference when tested with 4xAA high quality (101.1 vs 100.8). Also consider that this is at 640x480 (oh yay, VGA!), which means that the difference at higher resolutions will be even smaller, since the GPU will become a bigger factor. Also the Gigabyte has only 2 pci slots, and no additional power connector near the SLI pci-e connectors.
