Asus A8n SLI + ram / general ram question

as you can see in my sig I have the Asus mobo w/ 1 gig of ram (2 sticks of 512 each)...
now from what I've heard, there are problems w/ this board if I fill up the other 2 slots w another gig? is that correct? I'm thinking it may be some sort of dual-channel problem (i have no idea if im runnin my ram in dual channel mode or not...i think i may be, as the mobo manual siad to install the dimms in the ame colored slots, but that may be irrelevant, i dont know)...can anyone enlighten me to any problems i may have in installing 2 gigs total? i will of course attempt to get the exact same ram i got previously..
my 2nd question is this...I recently read somewhere here that memory timings are likely set to auto on my board if i didnt manually set them & that i may be losing performance w/ these relaxed timings..(i am overclocking & i know my ram is actually underclocked at this point because of the divider i am using...according to NV monitor this ddr400 ram is running at about 375...i plan to try to push my overclock a bit more soon to try to get my ram closer to 400, but that's another story) - how do i know what timings to MANUALLY enter in the bios for my ram? how do i find this out? how do i test etc...any help will be much appreciated!

Have the same board as you. In the cpu config go to dram options and set timings to manual. But you must already know this is you set the divider to 266, so I don't get what the question is.

I run 2x1GB sticks. My memory performance is less than stellar. But I have mixed ram because Geil doesn't make the stick I bought in may anymore 🙁

I see about 4400 MB/sec with timings 3-8-4-8 (combined worse timings of both sticks)

Tom got 5200MB/sec with exact same config using sandra with XMS. So, 800MB/sec for an extra $200? Not worth it to me personally.

The board shouldn't have any problem with 4 sticks of ram except that it will drop the command rate from 1T to 2T, as is the case with any A64 motherboard.

The default timings for your ram should be listed on the label thats on each stick, but from my experience the A8N boards do a good job of setting the default timings correctly in most cases.
