I have an ASUS A8N SLI Premium board. I just got my 4400+ X2 and my Ballistixs 2gb kit. I went back to the 1006 bios after flashing to the newest bata 1007 because it lets you select up to 1.55 Vcore. Everytime I put 1.55 in the bios it only shows 1.44 - 1.47 in the bios, Asus probe and CPUID. I have got the cpu 100% stable @ 10X250 with the 1.47 Vcore. I am sure that if I was getting the 1.55 that this chip would go higher.

Do you guys think I should get rid of my ASUS Premium and go DFI or ABIT? I like this board but I need more Vcore. The Deluxe model I think can go to 1.6v. What is going on. Please help. Thanks.

My premium works fine at 1.55........... At 1.55 CPUZ displays 1.55, at 1.4875 CPUZ displays 1.48. I've seen no problem. Additionally, running an X2 over 1.55 is risky, do ya really think a 100MHz or so is worth the price of the chip?

Regardless, Good luck............

How? The BIOS only allows me to select up to 1.45V and that really only yields 1.36V for me on 1007.002. On 1006, I can select 1.5V and get 1.47V, but nothing higher no matter what I choose. So how exactly are you doing this? And where are the numerous posts you speak of?

Thank god someone else can back me up on this. I thought I was the only one. Can you post a screen shot of CPUID with the X2 running 1.55 vcore on the A8N Premium? I am thinking I am going to send this back to Newegg and get something diffrent. Too bad because I always buy ASUS.

Have you tried reseting the board? There's a little blue plug clost to the battery, take it off and move it one pin over. There's three pins, its on the first two from the left by default. Move it over one pin, take the battery out for ten seconds, move it back over and put the battery back in.

I would flash it to the neweste BIOS first 1006 or 1007-02, doesn't matter, then reset the board. Not saying it's going to work, but it's worth a try, takes you all but a minute. This is a great board, and hope it works out for you.

I don't have a digital camera so I can't take a shot of the bios screen. Guess I could borrow one if I must. My board came with 1005 and after flashing to all 1006's and now 1007.002 nothing's changed. I still have 1.55 as an vcore option. It does undervolt slightly but not much. I know I have posted this 5 or 6 times in response to others that have the same bios limits you guys are talking 'bout.

There are similar post at X..... I'm have no clue on how this happens, I 'd be as interested to know as anyone...

I was gonna post a screenie of CPUZ with vcore at 1.547 with the bios set to 1.55. But I'm new here and don't see anyway to post a graphic. Guess I need to fine a place to post the image so I can http link to it. That's kinda a pain in the arse isn't it......

I just returned my ASUS Premium and ordered a ABIT AN8 SLI Fatal1ty. I found out that the northbridge was also overheating and makeing my computer reboot when under load. I put a fan there and the problem went away. But I still had the problem with the Vcore voltage. I hope this new ABIT will be better. I guess we will see.

I'm having this exact same problem, only can get up to 1.36v no matter what I set it to. Im on BIOS revision 1013. I'm wondering if anyone has been able to fix this problem as I am about to return this motherboard for a different brand, 1.36v is worthless to me...

Bios Revision 1013? Are you using the Premium or Deluxe board? If Premium, the highest final bios is 1007 and a beta 1008.001 is around.

Note, I'm able to get an overlock of 2.75ghz at 1.5375 volts. It seems strange how some folks have issues and others don't.

deluxe. Exact same problem Ive read about with people using the deluxe+4200. Tech support says they know of a workaround but cant tell me because if I break my cpu by overclocking using info they gave me, they would be liable... What a load...

From Asus's site:

Question

When I set the CPU voltage to 1.575V or higher in BIOS, the system will detect the CPU?s real voltage is only 1.55V with defult Vcore at 1.4V. Why?

Answer

Due to AMD CPU?s limitation, the voltage of AMD CPU can only be raised to +0.15V higher at most. So when you set the CPU voltage to 1.575V or higher in BIOS, the CPU?s real voltage will be limited at 1.55V with defult Vcore at 1.4V.

Not true. DFI owners can raise their cpu voltage higher than 1.55v

Yeah I'm running at 1.64v right now with my DFI. My ASUS sli-premium just refused to give me any of the voltages that I requested- I could never count on it. With the DFI, it sits at 1.64v and doesn't move at all- ever.. rock solid at this setting with no voltage fluctuations. I switched mobos because of this very reason.
