ASUS A8N-SLI Premium Question

With the ASUS A8N-SLI Premium which has a NVIDIA nForce4 SLI chipset, can you still use ATi video cards on it if you do not want to use SLI?
Also is this a good option for use of an AMD FX now, since the mobo supports 64 X2 for a future upgrade?

You can use ATi Cards in an A8N-SLI Premium.

If I were you, I'd just get the X2 now.
