ASUS A8N-SLi Premium owners

Hey.

I'd like to know which BIOS version you're currently using with your ASUS A8N-SLi Premium. And if it's stable or not.

I'm using BIOS 1009, but my Memory still runs at 333 Mhz by default, and I need to manually adjust it to run it at its rated Memory speed by Corsair, at 400 Mhz.

And I am not sure if BIOS versions for the ASUS A8N-SLi Deluxe are compatible with the Premium.

Premium-specific, I believe the latest "final" BIOS build is 1009. And the latest "beta" is 1011.001 (dated from December 8th) ... but I have never seen version 1010. Perhaps ASUS decided to go directly for 1011 after 1009. If that's the case then if someone could confirm, I'd appreciate.

I'm running 1007 I believe. I haven't had any problems at all.

Is your Memory set for Dual Channel - slots 1 & 3 I believe. If not, that may be why you're having some issues.

Looks like we're running the same Memory (2x512MB ?) too, mine's been great.

I'm also using 1009. And by default it sets the memory frequency to 333 but for optimal performance, you always want to set the memory setting manually.

No, bios for other motherboards are not compatible. Don't even try it, if you don't want to RMA your mobo.

Yes, they appeared to skip 1010.

With the NeoHE PSU you need to be running the 1009 or newer bios (this is very important seeing as there is a known issue between the NeoHE and the ASUS A8N boards with random powerdowns). If you aren't experienceing this problem, however, any bios should be ok. I use the 1009 on mine.

hi there,

i decided to take the plunge and flashed to bios version 1011.001. i have been rock stable since using 1007 as well. i also manually set my memory. right now, i got my OCZ memory running at 270 MHz DDR540 with 2 x 1 GB sticks.

Comon sombody help me ....

Im trying to run dual channel with 2 x 512 ballistix and I cant run higher than 170 mHz. that is what I get when i set it at ddr266. When I try to set it to 333 it doesnt boot

JJU357, yep I heard about those Antec NeoHE / A8N-SLi Premium combo horror stories.

But honestly, I did not have a single issue so far.

I had BIOS version 1008 by default, and two "bugs" I had directly related to that BIOS version, were that my CPU was not recognized, and my Memory's rated default speed and timings were not properly recognized as well (333 Mhz at 2-3-3-6, instead of 400 Mhz at 2-2-2-5).

When I switched to 1009, then the CPU issue was fixed, but the Memory problem remains.

Now I'm still using 1009, and my Memory's "true" speed and timings (as stated by Corsair) are manually set. And everything is rock stable at 333 Mhz, at 2-2-2-5, 1T.

But as soon as I set the Memory speed to 400 Mhz, then the boot-up won't go any further than the BIOS screen. After that, it stays black, and I need to reboot, and set the Memory speed back to 333 Mhz.

And my Memory modules are certified by ASUS to use with the Motherboard in question. So it means it's a bug in the BIOS, and not actually a mere incompatibility issue.

But I'll come back on the NeoHE case.

As I said, I've experienced absolutely no problems at all with the PSU. Perhaps I am just lucky, I don't know. But all I can say about that PSU is that it's the best I've ever owned.
