Asus A8N-SLI Premium or DFI LAN Party NF4 SLI-DR

I am building a new system in the next few weeks, but I am stuck on the motherboard choice. I have narrowed it down to these 2. Asus A8N-SLI Premium or DFI LAN Party NF4 SLI-DR. I will be over clocking some, but I am not hard core. It will be used primarly for gaming and I want something solid. I will spend a few hours overclocking it, but once it is set up I dont want to have to worry about it ever again. For right now I will only have on 7800GT video card in, but later in the year I will be getting a 2nd one to take advantage of the SLI.

Anyone have experiance with these boards, thoughts, suggestions, votes?

If you're not going to go OC crazy, I'd go with the ASUS (fanless) to eliminate having to worry about fan noise/failure for one.

What CPU are you looking at, and how much (and how many) RAM ?

For actual SLI, I'd definitely go with ASUS. The extra space between PCI-E X16 slots is very helpful.
For overclocking, DFI wins hands-down.

If you're considering the A8N-SLI why not go for the A8N32-SLI Deluxe? A few extra bucks for some decent future proofing and all around improved tech over the older gen. When you add that second card later next year you'll have X16 in both slots instead of just in one. That's one of the reasons I went for the A8N32. Good luck with whatever you finally decide to go with.

I would like to, but the few places I am permited to buy from do not have it in stock. And I have to buy within the next week or not at all.

I would go with the DFI just on the knowledge that many (here come the flames) ASUS owners have been posting questions regarding BIOS related problems / questions. Since ASUS has never had the best reputation for BIOS updates, I would go with the DFI.

id go with the asus premium.more ram compatibility and much easier most of the time to o/clock than the dfi.the asus is quiet too.the dfi is good if you buy the rite components and do your homework before building it.you have to know what your getting into with the dfi.the asus is alot more foregiving with components and settings.both are great boards but they are for different types of users.....good luck

Agree that Asus is more forgiving. I've had A8N-SLI Premium for 6 months now and it has never failed to boot. On the other hand, my DFI NF4 SLI-D failed to boot a few times already and I've only owned it for a week or so. Switching RAM slots, clearing CMOS, pressing this switch/that key, etc. But it overclocks like a champ and once you find a sweet spot, it's rock solid and runs like a champ.
