What are the problems with 4GB Ram? I posted in another thread a screenshot of me running 4x1gb of Crucial Ballistix.

I don't know ... it's just what the guy who posted it at the Asus forum reported. I don't have 4GB of RAM, so I can't verify.

vCore seems to be under much better control now. It does overvolt a little bit though.

vCore is "capped" to 1.45v. However, running at 1.45v puts it at 1.472.

Average overvolt it setting + .022 to .025. Setting at 1.35v put it at 1.36v. 1.375v was at 1.40v, etc.

I don't see any fix of the voltage problem.... All bios choices between 1.35 and 1.46 are still reported by cpuz as 1.34, and all choices between 1.47 and 1.55 are being reported as 1.488....... Seems like the same old BS to me..........

I just updated also. My vcore is capped at 1.45v too. But using the vcore setting 1.45v in the bios, it's getting reported as 1.504 thru cpu-z, ai-booster and pc-probe. Haven't tried any of the other settings yet.

Edit - I set vcore to 1.4v and cpu-z reported 1.44v and set vcore to 1.375 and cpu-z reports 1.408-1.424v

I don't understand how some of these boards cap the bios choice at 1.45 and some at 1.55........ Later tonight I'll check each vcore choice against probe and cpuz, with and without CnQ enable and post results.

I don't know ... I checked all my voltages with CPU-Z, so that's where I got my numbers from.

All I can say is that I could push my X2 3800+ to 2700 (300 x 9) at 1.45v (1.475v reported by CPU-Z), whereas I didn't have enough voltage before to have it stable at 2500 (250 x 10).

Guess YMMV.

I'm not using CnQ or Qfan either.

It seems as if the vcore cap is cpu dependant. X2's are being capped at 1.45, where as regular A64's are at 1.55

My board has never seen any other cpu except this X2, and it's been capped @ 1.55 starting with bios 1005 thru every bios since....

Weird. Same boat here, but only allowing up to max of 1.45v. I just flashed from 1006 that allowed for 1.55.

I'm in the same boat as Capt Caveman...

Sorry I should have elaborated more when I said X2's were capped at 1.45 in bios, it's only from "official" bios 1007 and up.

This is still very weird..... Rather than trust that Asus Update properly cleared the bios when I upgraded to 1008.3, I jumped cmos and reloaded defaults as a starting point. Prior to this I still had vcore options up to 1.55. My highest option now is 1.50, huh???

I continued to test the accuracy of the choices by selecting one at a time and rebooting immediately back to cmos to see what the bios (hardware monitor) was reporting?

Bios Setting - Bios Reported
Auto ? 1.320
1.350 ? 1.340
1.375 ? 1.370
1.400 ? 1.390
1.425 ? 1.440
1.450 ? 1.470
1.475 ? 1.480
1.500 ? 1.520

Now these are considerably closer than I?ve seen in the past but I?m not sure they tell any significant story. Regardless of the vcore setting, while in XP cpuz and probe are still reporting temps fluctuating so frequently you can?t get any idea of what?s being reported. For example, currently I have vcore set at 1.400 but it?s continually being reported as 1.362 ? 1.408?

So still no conclusion?. Wonder when we?re gonna see the new ATI chipset boards or a DFI rev.2?.

vCore still f luctuates.

When running Prime95, I had CPU-Z open. Bios is set to 1.45, it favors 1.472, but went anywhere from 1.44v to 1.50v.

Could be affecting my overclocks.
