This board has always been problematic for me. But before tossing it in the trash, I'd like to see if anyone else has this issue and maybe a fix. I think it's a problem with the Nvidia Nforce 4 chipset and drivers, or my Maxtor IDE HDD's and/or RAID.

I have two IDE Maxtor drives in a RAID 1, on the board. Occassionally WinXP will reboot and the drives shut off. I have to do a cold-reboot to get drives turned on again.

I have Automatic Restart in WinXP turned OFF. There is no blue screen nor any log created. Anyone know what would be causing the drives to turn off, and WinXP to reboot?

My Config:
Asus A8N-SLI Premium
2GB DDR 400 Mushkin
AMD X2 4200+ (stock speed) no overclocking.
(2) Maxtor 160GB IDE drives (RAID 1)
Antec 500W True Power - power supply
Nvidia 7600GT

What Sata ports are you using? For two drives try the SI Raid ports. I have an A8N32-SLI-Deluxe with issues on the SATA 1-2-3-4 ports. It now refuses to power up at all. I've never had any issues with the SI set-up.

Sorry for the late response, I lost track of this thread. I've decided to trash this board and buy another. I'm fed up with the problems I've had with this board.

I believe one problem is the Nvidia RAID. I wish there were more alternatives to on-board RAID than Nvidia.
