I'm building a file server with 8 IDE devices and 1 SATA hard drive. I'm using the two on board IDE controllers and a PCI IDE controller card for two more IDE channels. The PCI IDE controller is a Promise ATA 133 TX2 and the card had always worked on other motherboards. With this motherboard the card successfully detects all the devices and then just sits there with the list of devices and the message, "IDE bus master enabled" The computer boots fine if there are no devices connected to the card.

I've tried playing around with the motherboard bios disabling any sort of onboard devices that I'm not using in hope that something would make it work. Anyone have ideas for what I could try?

Quick googling shows your mobo might not like Promise combined with the onboard SATA enabled. You could try a newer BIOS, for both the mobo and the controller...those might get your config to work.

I have the latest bios on everything but the built in SATA controller. I'll try updating that and see if it fixes anything.
