I was going over the installation manual for the XP-90C heatsink and it says first to:

Remove stock RM by unscrew both Philip screws and drip
a couple drops of nail polish remover on the sides of RM to
unglue it from the motherboard, this way RM can be easily
removed without damage PCB and components.

Does this have to be done on all motherboards? It was my understanding that on most boards nowadays you don't need to do this. I have the Asus A8N nForce SLI board. Do I need to remove the stock RM for this board?

Anyone have the XP-90 or 120 can give advice please.

Thanks.

I installed an XP-90 on my SK8V in place of the stock fan and heat sink.

I did not need to do the acetone/ nail polish remover thing. I suggest you try and see how easily the stock heat sink assembly comes off, and only if it seems stuck/ glued on should you need to resort to acetone.

Good Luck!

i have the a8n-e and just installed the xp-90. you really don't need nail polish, but you do have to remove the stock retention module. luckily, all you have to do is remove two screws and replace it with the one that comes with the cooler.
