Did anyone try the divider settings above DDR400, like the DDR500, etc ? This may increase the memory speed beyond the fsb's which should help a lot if you have fast memory.

I have the same problem with showing my FSB as 0. You can open up nTune though and see your true FSB.

I'm disappointed that I can't overclock my 3000+ winchester past 2.4 ghz. Also I feel somewhat defrauded as I was mislead by anandtech article about overclocking this chip, which led me to believe a speed of 2.6 ghz at least is easily achievable. Did anyone else manage to overclock a 3000+ past 2.4 ghz ? my stable overclock is 9x265 at 1.625V. memory is currently running at 178 mhz.

The Winchesters tend to be all over the place depending upon the week and batch you get. Some can do 2.8 on air near stock voltage, while some can barely break 2.2 at 1.6V. Obviously, the reviewers get cherry-picked samples, so I've ceased to put a lot of stock in what's said.

How are you testing what your MAX OC is?

I can get my 3000+ up to 2.65ghz it is win stable and sandra stable, but there is no way I could Run looping timedemo's in doom3.

I can run it at 2.55ghz in most games, but fore real intense stuff I sometimes need to bump it down ~2.45ghz

Overclocking rule #1: YMMV

the 265x9 = 2385 mhz had no errors when running prime-95 overnight (11 hours). I can get it to 275x9 and even run super-pi with no errors, but prime-95 fails within a few minutes. I believe I can't even reach 280x9, as it reboots immediatley. But my goal was to match AT's 290x9....

One thing, I haven't tried yet is using lower cpu multiplier and higher fsb, but I'm not sure how this will help the cpu achieve higher speed. So I guess I should accept the fact that 2.4 ghz is probably the max.

Yeah, I guess you're right, because how else could it be that they got two different winchesters that both overclock to the exact same max speed of 2610 mhz ? They (and I) should have realized that this is a dead giveaway of the fact that these cpus were hand picked ! Anandtech should know better, and should get their cpu's anonymously from retail stores. Otherwise, this kind of results are very misleading, wether they realize what's happening or not.

I've just flashed to 1003-006 and changed the CPU voltage to 1.600v in the BIOS. Upon rebooting, the BIOS hardware monitor reported 1.58-1.59v. I might be wrong, but this is better than with the old BIOS right? I thought they only got to like 1.54v.

1.65v still give 1.58v tho...

Question for everyone...

Did you notice that with the 006 (and the new 008) bios that you lost your ability to see and adjust the memory voltages w/ nTune?

I flashed back to the 1002 bios to confirm my findings. Anyone no how to turn the mem adjustment function back on in the bios so that you can adjust it with nTune in Windows?

nTune is nearly useless anyway...it gives incorrect information, and it's so feature and information limited it's a disgrace. Use your BIOS and a good detection suite like SANDRA or Everest.

I can't remember if you were running a winchester or not, but it seems that Prime95 is not a good method for determining stable winchesters. I know that I can fail prime95 in like 2mins sometimes, but be stable in doom3 or various other programs.
