Hi all,

I've got an SLI rig with two eVGA 6800GTs. I also have two PCI cards installed in my system (sound card and TV tuner). I'm interested in installing NV Silencers on each of my video cards, but I'm not sure if everything will still fit. Does anyone have any insight?

Thanks!

I'm guessing it will fit, because the SLI steup is designed to take 2 ultras, which are 2 slots each. This leaves you with 4 slots down, and at least 2 left for your PCI cards.

I don't think you should have problem. The Asus mobo is the one with the two PCIe x1 slots in between the x16 slots, right? That gives you the room to 2 slots inbetween the cards instead of just one, which gives the NV5 Silencer a bit more breathing room. You will also have two free PCI slots left, but that is it... No more room for upgrades.

I'll be doing almost exactly that. I got my mobo yesterday, I've already got my 6800U's, and I have a FX55 waiting to be put on the board. I have every intention of using 2 NV5's on the 6800's, and from what I can see on the board (and just pairing up my 6800 that HAS an NV5 on it in line with the PCIe slot), it's going to fit just fine.

It works I got the setup with dual gt's and nv5 silencers , it is just a little tight by the raid control connectors but other then that its awsome!

Question, I've been looking into SLi since I'm thinking about doing it, but every single thing I have read or looked at on it talks about using 6800GTs for the setup. Is there some reason there isn't much out there on using 2 6800 Ultras? Has anyone else done it?

I don't know, but if I were doing it, I would do 1 6800U right now, and in a year and a half when that 6800U isn't top of the line anymore I would go out and buy another one for half the price.

Because they are rediculously overpriced right now and only marginally better than 2x 6800 Gts.

In a year an a half a 6800U SLI setup may only perform as a mid-range card and with less features...
