Hi every expert out there,

im a gamer who just bought a new computer about two months ago

since then ive used a few different copies of windows XP sp1a (provided by universities and colleges) and currently im using XP 64bit

the problem is, my games have a probability of crashing, say about 50% chance every half an hour

the physical PoV: i hear this really bad kkkkkkkkkkklik chiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii, and the blue screen of death comes up. a technical screen appears for about 3 seconds and the system reboots. most of the time i can get back into windows right away with a notification that a it has just recovered from a serious error. but there are times that i couldnt get back into windows. had to turn it off, wait a bit, if it still didnt work i went into safe mode to perform some scans like chkdsk. and it magically works again.

as you can see nothing abve is 100% definite.. but here are some information that appears on the blue screen of death:

kernel_data_inpage_error

0x0000007A ( --- there are four parameters here ---)

i was able to copy down the second one.. it ends with 09d

so i went to research on this error and i ran into the microsoft windows xp resource kits page, it says my error is:
http://www.microsoft.com/resources/docu.../XP/all/reskit/en-us/prmd_stp_fvlq.asp

lastly, here are my specs... Please try to help me.. thought i bought a pretty decent machine but i havent even had one good gaming experience yet :(

here is the explaination for the msg eding in 9d as you stated you saw...

0xC000009D, or STATUS_DEVICE_NOT_CONNECTED, indicates defective or loose data or power cables, a problem with SCSI termination, or improper controller or disk configuration.

based on the above.. some simple things to start with ...
1) double/triple check the cable connections going into your hard drives, etc.. make sure everything is seated properly (video and memory cards, etc..)
2) check your hard drive for bad sectors
3) scan for a virus
4) make sure you are running the latest nforce drivers (6.39?) and bios (1003 or 1004) ?
5) check with drive manufacturer for any firmware updates
6) test your memory sticks with mem86 etc.. or try running with just 1 stick .. making sure its in the b1 slot... to rule out a memory issue...

good luck . hope this helps
