Just wondering what the best cooling fan, zalman, coolmaster, thermaltake, etc. I should be using with this board? I do not really what to change the mounting bracket, but if I have too I will. The temp at idle is at 40c and with load 50c. I find this hot.

I have the same board and CPU and have a XP-120 with a Panafalo U1A on my 3500. Idling @ 33c right now. The fan is turned down too on my fan controller.
 
yep its best to listen to somebody who has the same board!!

The XP 90 copper as well as the SI and XP 120 are solid top notch heatsinks!!

On my Asys board I am running the XP120 at presnt and I am seeing idle temps equal to that of the Zalman 9500 which I also have!!

My idle temps are 27c....🙂
 
JEDI, what do you think is a better HSF? Between the 9500 and the XP 120.... if you could only keep one, which would it be and why?
 
Well, looks like the general consenses is the XP-120.

I have a few questions:

Any modifications to the asus board?
How much room is there between the XP-120 and the memory?


If everything is OK, then I will order this...
 
The general consensus is based largely on the zalman 9500 being so new!!

All the people I have talked with who own the 9500 love it!!

yet with that said....

I also like the XP120!!

For Now CrakaJax I would like the way my case looks with the XP120 installed in it!!

It truly is a toss up......

JBDan turned me towards the XP120 a while ago......

So for now friend the XP 120 is what I would keep.....

I will be retesting the 9500 in a week or so!!

Then I will post all my results together along with ambient room temperatures....

Also a qucik note----
my case is quieter than its ever been now that I got rid of most of my 80mm fans and have the 2--120mm coolermatser and the Zalman 92 mm slim along with the 120 thgermaltake smart fan on my Heatsink....

Those coolermaster fans are just awesome..even at top rpm...they are quiet!!
