sorry if this is already posted some where else am running late and need to know the answer to this question...

with everyone having problems with this mobo is it one specific problem (the mobo fan dying?) or lots of problems also is it happening to all the mobos or just a few as i have already bought this board only after to find out that it is pritty crappy, and would like to know if it is usable(keeping in mind i don't want to over clock) or is it worth trying to sell the board and get the premium?? if i dont have to sell it, it would be alot easier for me but i wanna know if it is going to last me if i keep it

one more thing, how come to begin with heaps of people were saying that this is the best mobo eva etc, rock solid blah blah and now its really bad?
 
I've never used the board, but IMO it was being suggested by many due to Asus's reputation. They generally make very high quality, stable boards.
It seems as though they missed the mark on this one though. I would sell it if you can get a decent price for it, but that may be difficult to do.
 
This board, with the exception of the chipset fan, is brilliant. It is a great overclocker, and is easy to set-up. If you dont mind replacing the fan, this is an awesome board.

Also, depending on how old your board is, it may come with the same hsf as the premium. But if not, ASUS will send you one free of charge anyway.

You are better off getting a DFI board instead...even if you are not OC'ing...arguably thay have the best components and and stability
 
I use the Zalman chipset cooler instead and it's sound. There's a silent 80cm fan in the vicinity.

No problems with the board at all, but I'm not an overclocker.

Oh wait - couple weeks back the GUI post screen went a bit weird. Fine now again...
 
I've had this board since December and its been great and a great overclocker. I have never changed the chipset fan, still using the original with no problems and mines not loud either
 
I had the ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe.

My chipset fan died and I sold it off for about $135. I had paid $200.

I still like ASUS, though. I've since recommended the company to many of my friends.

Honestly, my chipset did run very hot (read: 50C idle, 65C full load), but it performed as a motherboard of that caliber should...

While I've heard it isn't the best for OC'ing, I didn't do any myself, so I can't tell you first-hand how that went (I sold it 5 months after I bought it and picked up my current DFI LANParty UT Ultra-D, which I am also very happy with). The features of that motherboard were amazing, however. I found it to be much more user-friendly than any of the other nForce 4 motherboards that I've worked with.

It's really up to you, but I feel that the deluxe version doesn't provide enough benefits to warrant the price premium that one pays for it (and I believe that holds true for any of the nF4 motherboards out right now -- especially DFI's).
