I write this in light of all the posts about trouble OCing this mobo.
Here's the spec:
Athlon 64 3000+ (1.8 GHz) 90nm
A8N-SLI DeLuxe (BIOS 1007)
Zalman 7000A AlCu
Antec Sonata (case fan replaced with a Papst)
Corsair CMX512 3200C2
Just got my machine back from service (MB and PSU fried), so they were both replaced.
Before the frying, the I had a stable OC:
FSB @267
HTT mult 4x = 1068 MHz
Proc mult 9x = 2403 MHz (1.45 VCore)
RAM @333 MHz = 445 MHz (2.5, 3, 3, 5) @2.6V
I immediately went to OC back to what it was before only to find out that I can't get past 230 FSB.
I noticed though that the board has BIOS 1011 loaded. And I noticed that the board will not obey the HTT mult setting. It was always 5x no matter what I set. Of course, having HTT @ 1200 MHz (FSB 240) was "probably" the culprit for not being able to post. What was even more interesting, I tried to set HTT mult from NTune (2.25.05): NTune and NVMonitor both showed a successful change of mult, but raising FSB would immediately cause the machine to lock up. So I was forced to conclude thet the mult was not changed at all.
So I updated the BIOS to latest 1012 beta 3 which works as it's supposed to. I'm back to my previous OC (I only lowered HTT mult to 3x since I learned that 800 vs 1000 MHz doesn't make nuch difference).
Guys with A8N-SLI DeLuxe, don't despair about your OC. Just flash the BIOS and you'll be back on track.
Hope this was helpful to anyone,
Jure
