It would appear as if Monarch is price gouging. This does not really surprise me though. When they were the only ones that have the new SKT 939's they were gouging also. I will never buy from bottom of the lake scum like this. They must feel like if they are first top have it they can charge whatever they feel like and buy from us if you want too. No Thanks I will wait before shitholes like this get any of my money. $325 when zip zoom is $100 cheaper? What pieces of crap.

I have to say I don't have too much of a problem with it.

If you are a true enthusiast and have the money then you will be able to get one this way. If they would do first-come first-serve then you probably wouldn't.

You have to keep in mind that shops like that do not earn a lot of money off hardware. If you allow some enthusiasts with too much money to "sponsor" them for a few weeks they earn some money that they can sort out to have some breathing room. E.g. for a liberal RMA policy, website improvements, shipping cost cuts.

It'd say it not too bad a thing. We are only talking about two weeks here that people who want to pay normal money have to wait extra.

And BTW, $150 extra doesn't do much harm if you spend $800 on a CPU, 2x $400 or 2x $500 on two graphics cards and whatnot on RAM.

I see the board now is available as a system build only. So you have to order a system built by them to even touch this board. I may be a little overly sensitive since we went through alot of this gouging in Florida this past summer. We had all sorts of companies trying to make a buck off gouging people that wanted/needed things. While I am all for free enterprise and glad that companies can make a buck while they can. Do not alienate the customer base that drives all your other sales all year long. It is also the principle of the thing. Treat your customers well and they will come back. After the 939's and the mobo's I know what I will do from now on.

Seriously... I don't think there is anything unethical about what they are doing now, it's the price they should be charging for a product with such huge demand and such limited quantities. Zipzoom has taken another approach though keeping the price so low. I'm sure their reasoning behind that is that they will get all of the preorders from the class of people who won't pay $350 and that there are simply enough of those people to outway the proffit gains from selling to a few at $350.

Either way the reason monarch has their prices high is to make money and the reason zipzoom has their prices low is to make money, I'm fairly sure neither of them are truly concerned with fairness except in the aspect of how it attracts customers.
